Will Delta-8 Make you fail Drug Tests

Delta-8 is one of the most popular types of THC, because it’s not regulated, but it does make you fail drug tests. The thing with delta 8, is that the current drug tests that we offer don’t tell the differences between these, and also, some of the ways to ensure that you don’t have positive results with the drug test that you have.

What Delta-8 is

This is basically a cannabinoid that’s in cannabis that works similar to the delt-9, or regular THC that we’re all familiar with. It basically is the same chemical, and it can make you feel similar intoxicating and weightless feelings that you might get from this, and also, it might reduce the anxiety and the brain fog you deal with. Hemp-derived forms of CBD are the best for this, but you should make sure that you never buy unregulated delta-8, as that’s very dangerous.

The differences

The biggest difference between delta-8 and 9 is literally in a chemical bond. There is one more ring in delta-9 than 8, and basically, it differs in how strong the effects that you get from this are.

Delta-8 supposedly is less potent, but they do bind to the same receptors, so it can offer similar health benefits too. Delta-9 is also far more abundant than the delta-8 is in the cannabis plant. However, through the Farm Bill that allowed for hemp to be produced, they’ve made it legal to get delta-8 from hemp.  This is considered federally legal THC, which differs from delta-9 since it is’ not federally legal.

Showing up on Drug Tests

Yes, it does show up on drug tests, and this is because the metabolites between the two are pretty much the same, and they also have the same chemical makeup and weight, so you will usually fail a drug test usually.

That’s because these drug tests look for different metabolites in the sweat, blood, hair and the spit of a person. A guy that uses delta-8, which might be legal, will get false positives for delta-9 because of this.

How long can this stay within the system though?

Well, just like with regular THC, delta-8 can stick around for up to 90 days, as this sticks around within the fat cells. Most usually detect this a few days after you’ve used this, but a lot of chronic users can have a test that’s positive for about 30 days or more.

It varies based on the factors that are there too, such as:

  • The amount consumed

  • How long you’ve been consuming it.

  • The ECS you have

  • How your metabolism works

Some people clear it out faster than others, so keep that in mind.

Passing Drug Tests

While it can disappear after a few hours, it’s hard to make sure that you get rid of it.

Urine tests usually test for THC for up to 10 days, based on the experience.

Blood tests usually can be up to 25 days if you use this chronically.  You may want to be mindful and quit for up to a month.

Saliva tests usually are up to 72 hours and are roadside tests for DUIs.

Finally, there are hair follicle tests, but they are way more sensitive than the urine tests, it’s also been found that it can cause the THC to stay there up to 3 months. If you know that they’re going to test for THC using hair follicles, then you might want to take a break from this for a bit longer until the drug test happens, but they’re less common too.
